Basic Android experience

This device was initially designed for entry-level devices in emerging market markets

Android One is a Google-developed program for hardware manufacturers who make smartphones. Android One membership – which is clearly marked on the back of the phone, guarantees that the device runs a stable and solid version of Android without any additional apps, services, or bloatware.

All in all, it’s an essential, stock Android experience.

Android One does not include any extras that manufacturers may bundle with skins, duplicate apps, or additional services. This means no pre-loading of Microsoft Office or Facebook apps, no additional news apps, and no keyboard modification.

Google was trying to spread Google-controlled Android through compelling products. This is a bit like the Nexus program, except that these devices are not made directly by Google, but instead of being sold directly by Google, they are made by hardware partners.

Nokia is the most prominent advocate for Android One, with a complete portfolio of devices that use the software.

What is Android One and what phones are compatible?

What Phones are Compatible with Android One?

The HTC U11 Life was 2017’s first Android One smartphone. Nokia has made a significant commitment to Android One since then. This meant that the scheme was on the radar with a wide range of devices, from the Nokia 5.3 to the Nokia 9 PureView.

LG joined the list before closing its mobile division. The LG G7 One was also included in the list. The Xiaomi Mi A2 runs on Android One instead of the company’s regular MIUI. Motorola One, which launched a whole range of Android One phones like the Moto One Vision, is another example.

Android One has a unique feature that we love. It gives you an Android experience without the bloat. Some of these devices are also very fast to update to the latest version of Android. Android One was a critical factor in Nokia’s success as the fastest-updated company.

However, between 2020 and 2021 there has been a slight slowdown. Google’s Android One listing supports devices that still display phones from 2020. Many of the latest Android One phones are still waiting for the Android 11 upgrade. Unfortunately, the reality is not as fast as the dream of quick updates.

What is Android One?

Android One is “the purest version of Android.” According to Google, it is the “best version of Android right out of the box”.

It comes with all the Google goodness and stock Android. This is slightly different from the Pixel phones. Google often announces the Pixel phones with unique features, such as a Pixel Camera and Pixel Launcher. These features may not be available to all Android devices and will continue to be exclusive to Pixel phones.

Apps by Google

Google software, including Google Duo, YouTube and Maps, is included – the entire suite of Google services.

Android One phones come with Google Play Protect built-in, ensuring that your apps stay safe and behave as they should. You won’t receive a hijacked Android version loaded with malware.

Google Assistant

Android One phones can be used Google Assistant to use Google’s helper. You can text a friend or hail a ride with Assistant, as well as send a message to a friend. Learn more about Google Assistant on mobile devices by clicking here. It’s a fantastic service that continues to improve.

Google Support

Android One gives you up to two years of updates to the most recent version of Android. If you purchase an Android One device with Oreo, your device will be running Android 10. As the manufacturer has very little to do with the software, you don’t have to wait around for updates to be released by your manufacturer.

Android One devices are free from any modifications by manufacturers, which makes it easier for Google to issue updates. You also get three years of Android security updates. That was at least the plan. The reality is a bit different, as I mentioned.

Support for manufacturers

Although it may sound strange, Android One offers support for hardware elements from different device manufacturers. Android devices come in a variety of forms. The Android One program allows you to add hardware features to your device with the software.

The HTC U11 Life, for example, has a squeezable frame that allows you to use the software. Manufacturers will also have their own camera apps. The company that makes the phone does not need to use the standard Android camera. They can instead use their own. This could extend to Dolby Atmos support on the speakers and the camera. They can also support any camera hardware they use using their own app.

Nokia phones will have a Nokia camera with Pro modes and other features, which is different from the stock Android camera.
