Apple’s Pro Max is an elite smartphone, and it cannot be beaten if you want the most advanced iPhone specs. So, how does the new 2020 flagship iPhone 12 Pro Max compare to the previous 11 Pro Max?

Let’s see which model is best for you.

Design and Display

At first glance, iPhone 11 Pro Max looks very similar to iPhone 12 Pro Max. Both have a sleek, surgical-grade stainless-steel frame that weighs 226g. They also house edge to edge displays.

The latest model, iPhone 12 Pro Max, has the largest screen at 6 7/8 inches, in contrast to the 6-inch screen on the 11 Pro Max. Both models use Super Retina HDR technology, including Apple’s Tru Tone and HAPTIC Touch for unique navigation.

Both handsets are protected from the front and back with durable glass. iPhone 12 Pro Max also has a Ceramic Shield added across the screen to provide better drop performance, and features MagSafe technology.

Both are durable, but have slightly different IP68 water resistance ratings. iPhone 11 Pro Max can survive at a depth of 4m for 30 min, but the Phone 12 Pro Max is more robust and can withstand 6m for 30 min.

Camera

Both have a triple-lens camera system that measure 12MP. However, there are many differences between the rear cameras.

iPhone 11 Pro Max can, for instance, take 4x optical zoom. It also uses dual optic image stabilisation to keep spur of the moment photos in focus. To fine-tune your photos, the device’s rear camera uses next-generation Smart HDR. The aperture across all three lenses is different from iPhone 12 Pro max. The 11 will have three lenses: a wide lens with an f/1.8 aperture and an ultra-wide lens with the f/2.4, and a telephoto lens allows you to take great portrait shots using f/2.0.

iPhone 12 Pro Max is now equipped with a new 12MP camera. You can zoom even further with 5x optical zoom, and it packs a wide lens & ultra-wide lens too.Smart HDR3 will enhance your photos by adjusting lighting, contrast, and other settings. There are many new features in iPhone 12 Pro max, such as sensor-shift optical imaging stabilisation to keep your videos stable, and a new AR scanner to take night mode portraits.

The new Pro Max also records with Apple Pro Raw and DolbyVision HDR at 60 fps. A Night Mode timelapse is also a welcome, if novel addition. Both version share a number of key features, including 4K recording at 24, 25, 30, and 60 FPS, QuickTake, and Video Zoom to ensure that everything is crystal clear, even at a distance.

In the modern world, it’s a must have on any new mobile – the selfie cam. The phones feature a 12-megapixel single-lens camera that can record 4K video and supports Face ID, Animoji, and Memoji.

Power

iPhone 11 Pro Max features a third-generation Neural Engine, A13 Bionic, and iPhone 12 Pro Max has an even faster A14 Bionic chip and Apple’s newest Neural Engine.

iPhone 11 Pro Max offers 4G connectivity, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max is part of Apple’s first 5G-ready phone series. You’ll be able instantly to download 5G speeds whenever you are in a connected area.

Both devices can be used with iOS 14 so that you can take advantage of the new features Widgets or Picture In Picture.

Batteries

Both iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro Max can deliver 20-hour video playback, so there’s no need to worry about running out of juice.

iPhone 12 Pro Max supports Apple’s new wireless charger technology. MagSafe boosts wireless charging speeds by doubling them from 7.5W to 15.W . This is Apple’s equivalent to fast charging and can be used with any compatible MagSafe charger (sold separately).
