Rumours suggest that Samsung will announce the ‘Fan Edition, also known as FE, of its Galaxy S21 in the latter part of this year. This is to replace the Galaxy S20 FE.
The Galaxy S20 FE, a great device, offers many great features as the Galaxy S20, but at a lower price. There have been rumours that the S21 FE may follow those footsteps.
What is the expected performance of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE compared to the Galaxy S20 FE? So you can compare the S21FE specs to the S20FE, we have put them up. To see how it compares to the Galaxy S21, you can check out our separate feature.
Design
Rumours suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will be similar to the Galaxy S21. It will have a centralised punch hole camera at its top, a plastic back, and an IP65/68 dust and water resistance.
The leaked renders show a triple rear camera, with the housing in the upper left corner and the frame flowing into it. It is estimated to measure 155.7×74.5×7.9mm.
The Galaxy S20 influences the design of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE also features a centralised punch-hole camera at the top, along with a plastic back.
The triple rear camera is housed in a housing at the top left corner. However, the housing is more like an island and is different from the Galaxy S21 FE. The dimensions are 159.8×74.5x 8.4mm, and it weighs in at 190g. If rumours prove true, the S21FE could be smaller and more slimmer.
According to some reports, the S21 FE will be available in grey, green and blue as well as violet and white colours. The Galaxy S20 FE is available in red, blue, lavender, mint and white.
Display
According to reports, Samsung Galaxy S21 FE’s display will be 6.4 inches and feature Full HD+ resolution. The display is expected to have a refresh rate of 120Hz, although it isn’t known if it will be able to offer a variable refresh rate like the Galaxy S21 range.
The display will be flat, as mentioned. It will be a Super AMOLED panel with HDR support, similar to the S20FE.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE’s 6.5-inch screen is slightly larger than the S21 FE’s, but it still has Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. However, the S20 FE’s refresh rate is fixed. If the Galaxy S21 FE offers variable, this will also be a difference.
Hardware and specifications
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will run on either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset or the Exynos 2110, which is supported by 6 and 8GB RAM. The S21 FE is expected to be a 5G phone running on Android 11 with 128GB or 256GB storage options.
Although there is no information on microSD support, the S21 FE may not offer it. According to rumours, the S21 FE’s battery capacity will be 4370mAh.
The Galaxy S20 FE 5G phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 while the 4G model runs off Exynos 910. You can choose between 6GB or 8GB RAM, and both have 128GB storage. Both models also support microSD.
The Galaxy S20 FE’s battery capacity is 4500mAh, which, if rumours are to be believed, makes it slightly more powerful than the Galaxy S21 FE.
Camera
According to rumours, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will include a triple rear camera. It is said to consist of 32-megapixels, 12-megapixels, and 8-megapixel sensors. However, no details have been provided on which sensors they are. We will likely see the main camera along with an ultra-wide-angle lens and telephoto lenses.
The Galaxy S20 FE features a triple rear camera. It includes a 12-megapixel main sensor, 1.8um pixels, OIS and 3x optical. This is the same camera as the S20+. The 8-megapixel telephoto lens has an OIS, OIS, 3x optical, and an f/2.4 aperture. There is also a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.
The Galaxy S20 FE’s front camera is a 32-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The front camera on the S21 FE is 12-megapixel.
Conclusion
According to rumours, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE may have a slightly different design than the S20 FE at the rear. This will keep it in line with the latest Galaxy S21 series. However, it will still look the same from the front.
Speculation suggests that the S21 FE will be smaller and thinner than the S20 FE. It will also have a smaller display, an upgraded processor, and possibly a new camera setup.
