Now that Samsung’s summer product launch is over, we can look forward to the next step. It appears that news about the Galaxy S22 series phones has begun to surface.

One source claims that the Samsung Galaxy S22 will use a punch hole for its front-facing camera rather than using the under display camera (UDC/UPC) used by Galaxy Fold 3.

According to @UniverseIce, a frequent Twitter tipster, the rumour claims that the S21 will be using the same selfie camera design. It’s expected to remain in the middle, near the top of display.

It is confirmed that the Galaxy S22 series uses Hole and uses the same camera area design of the S21.

Rumours suggest the Samsung S22 will not have a UDC.

Some may find it disappointing that Samsung hasn’t pushed for more innovative technology in its flagship phones. The current implementation of underdisplay cameras is not perfect.

We have seen a few issues with the underdisplay cameras in our products. First, the image quality is not great. That’s down to it being covered by a not-completely-transparent display panel.

It seems that no company has yet managed to hide the camera’s location within the display. The visible area under the screen is evident even in Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 3.

The S-series is Samsung’s flagship range of phones. It makes more sense to retain the innovative, futuristic technologies in the S-series.

The folding phones are cutting-edge by nature, so it’s another way for the Z line to be distinct from the Galaxy S series.
