Apple’s iPhone 13 series has finally been announced, and all of them look solid smartphones.
But what if you want something different? Below we outline what we at NIX believes are the top three alternatives currently in the market.
1. Samsung Galaxy S21 series
When it comes to flagship products, Samsung phones have always been in direct competition with Apple’s. It’s no surprise then that the Galaxy S21 is one of the most popular iPhone 13 alternatives.
Samsung promises three years of OS updates and four years of security patches for its S21 devices. This is one of the most attractive features. Although it isn’t as good as Apple’s products, this is still a significant advantage over most Android OEMs.
All three phones have 120Hz OLED panels and 5G connectivity. They also feature 12MP ultra-wide cameras and 8K video recording. The Galaxy S21, the smallest and most affordable model, packs a 4,000mAh lithium battery, a solid triple camera system and is made of plastic. The S21 Ultra, which packs a 5,000mAh battery, two telephoto cameras (10X and 3X), a glass design and a QHD+ panel, is the largest and most costly model.
2. Apple iPhone SE 2020
Do you like the idea of an iPhone but are looking for something cheaper than the latest models? The iPhone SE 2020 is an excellent alternative to the iPhone 13.
The iPhone SE, a wallet-friendly iPhone, was priced at $400 US. This makes it one of the most affordable new iPhones by a wide margin. You get solid specs at a great price with the A13 Bionic processor and IP67 dust/water resistance. Wireless charging is also available.
Despite this, iPhone 12 and 13 are still available. These include multiple rear cameras, 5G, higher resolution displays, and newer designs. Also, you miss features such as a large battery and a high-refresh-rate panel. It’s still one of the most affordable ways to get on the Apple train.
3. OnePlus 9 series
OnePlus devices are steadily increasing in price over the years. However, it is hard to argue that you don’t get a good deal with the OnePlus 9 duo.
Both phones have 65W wired charging, the Snapdragon 888 SoC and a 48MP main camera. The 50MP ultra-wide snapper is also available.
The OnePlus 9 Pro is the main attraction here. It features a QHD+ OLED panel, IP68 rating and 50W wireless charging. The vanilla OnePlus 9 offers an FHD+ OLED panel, an IP68 rating (only for T-Mobile), and slower wireless charging. A telephoto camera is not available on the standard phone.
OnePlus also confirmed that the phones would receive three years’ worth of OS updates and four years’ worth of security patches. This is a welcome announcement for anyone looking at Apple’s phones solely for its long-standing commitment towards updates.
