What is the rumoured difference?
NIX have now confirmed the availability of the Google Pixel 5a 5G – and details about the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have been confirmed by Google. To see the differences, we’ve compared them against each other.
We have also included the rumoured specs for the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6 Pro, where they are not yet detailed. This will give you a better idea of how the 2021 Pixels compare to each other.
Design
Pixel 5a 5G: 154.9 x 73.7 x 7.6mm, 185g

Pixel 6 Pro: 163.9 x 75.8 x 8.9mm, 11.5mm with bump
The Google Pixel 5a 5G has a design similar to its predecessor, the Pixel 4a 5G. The top left corner features a punch-hole camera, while the rear has a square housing for the camera.
The phone has a physical fingerprint sensor at the back. It is available in Mostly Black and features a coloured power switch. The Pixel 5a 5G is IP67 waterproof and dust resistant and has a metal unibody.
However, the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6 Pro will offer a complete redesign compared to previous Pixel devices. They have a wider camera housing than the back, which spans the width. The centralised punch-hole camera will be found at the top of the front displays.
Both are expected to be IP68 dust and water-resistant and have an under-display fingerprint sensor. The Pixel 6 will have a matte finish, while the Pixel 6 Pro will be in polished aluminium. Other colour options will also be available.
The Pixel 5a 5G is the smallest of all three devices being compared.
Display
Pixel 5a 5G – 6.34 inches, Full HD+, 60Hz
Pixel 6 – 6.4-inch Full HD+, 120Hz
Pixel 6 Pro: 6.67″/6.71″ Quad HD+, 120Hz
Google Pixel 5a 5G features a 6.34-inch display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. It has a 60Hz refresh rate, slower than the Pixel 5, which is expected for the Pixel 6 devices. As mentioned, it has a flat display.
It is believed that the Pixel 6 will have a 6.4-inch display and Full HD+ resolution. However, it will also be equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate display. The screen is also expected to be flat.
According to rumours, the Pixel 6 Pro will have either a 6.67-inch or 6.71-inch display. It is also thought to come with Quad HD+ resolution. The display will be slightly curved and it is also expected to have a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Hardware and specifications
Pixel 5a 5G: Qualcomm SD765G 5G, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 4620mAh
Pixel 6 – Google’s Tensor chip with 8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage. 4614mAh
Pixel 6 Pro – Google’s Tensor chip, 12GB RAM and 128/256/512GB storage. 5000mAh
Google Pixel 5a 5G uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset. It supports 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The box contains a 4620mAh battery and an 18W charging cable.
Google’s Tensor chip will be used in the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. It is expected to perform somewhere between the Snapdragon 865 or Snapdragon 888. The Pixel 6 Pro will have 12GB RAM, and the Pixel 6 Pro 8GB RAM.
According to reports, the Pixel 6 will be available in 128GB or 256GB storage options. The Pixel 6 Pro will also come in a 512GB version. Both will be able to charge wirelessly, but neither one is expected to include a charger.
The Pixel 6 Pro has a 4614mAh & the Pixel 6 Pro has a 5000mAh.
Camera
Pixel 5a5G: Dual camera (12.2MP+ 16MP), 8MP front
Pixel 6 – Dual camera (50MP+12MP), 8MP Front
Pixel 6 Pro – Triple camera (50MP+48MP+12MP), front
Google Pixel 5a 5G has a dual rear camera, which is identical to the Pixel 5. This gives you decent results. It includes a primary 12.2-megapixel sensor with 1.4um pixels, an f/1.7 aperture, and a 16mm ultra-wide-angle lens with 1.00um Pixels and an f/2.2 aperture.
The front camera of the Pixel 5a 5G has an 8-megapixel resolution and an f/2.0 aperture.
The Pixel 6 will have a dual rear camera, while the Pixel 6 Pro will have a triple rear camera. Google has not yet confirmed the specifications of the cameras. Rumours suggest that both models will feature a 50-megapixel primary sensor as well as a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor.
The Pixel 6 Pro will add a third lens to the camera, but leaks have suggested that it would be 8-megapixels or 48-megapixels. The front of the Pixel 6 is an 8-megapixels camera. The Pixel 6 Pro, however, is said to feature a 12-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro should offer the same features, including Night Sight, as the Pixel 5a 5G. We also expect to see similar excellent point-and-shoot results to the Pixel 5, even though the hardware will change.
Price
We haven’t been able to ascertain much about price other than it will be pitched at the medium level market. While the Pixel 6 Pro is likely to be more expensive than the Pixel 6 (and therefore Pixel 6a 5G), we hope the Pixel 6 models are more widely available.

You can buy the Google Pixel 5a 5G now for $449. However, it will only be available in the US or Japan.
Expect the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro to be revealed sometime in October. The starting price for the Pixel 6 is likely to be at least PS599 in the UK and $699 in the US. This is the same price as the Pixel 5, though it could go higher.
Conclusion
According to speculation and confirmed details, Pixel 5a 5G will have a similar design to Pixel 5a and Pixel 4a 5G. However, the Pixel 6a and 6 Pro will offer entirely new designs and will be larger than the Pixel 5a 5G.
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will have faster refresh rates, offer more storage options, a more powerful processor, more RAM, and more storage options. They will be brighter and likely to have advanced camera features.
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have not been confirmed yet, however, their designs and chipsets are known. They will be more expensive than the Pixel 5a 5G. Although the Pixel 5a 5G is more affordable, it has some impressive specifications. The availability of the Pixel 5a 5G is very limited in the US and Japan.
