iOS15’s LiveText can copy text from photos and paste it into other apps
One of the best features of iOS 15 is Live Text. You can choose and copy text from any image, just like any other text, using Live Text. Live Text is effortless to use.
Live Text is only available for iPads and iPhones with an A12 Bionic Chip or later.
This is how to use Live Text on iOS 15.
1. You can see an image with text in it, such as the one below. You can place your photo in the Photos, Camera, Mail, Safari, or Safari apps. This is basically any iOS 15 app that can display images. You can tap the Live Text button in the lower right corner of an image if the text has been detected automatically.
2. iOS will highlight any text found.
3. To select the text, double-tap or hold it while you tap. Tap Copy once you have selected the text that you wish to copy. Now you can paste the text wherever text is accepted — Mail, Notes and so on.
Insert text from your camera in other iOS 15 apps
Live Text allows you to insert text from your camera into any field of your iPhone which accepts text.
1. Open an app that can accept text, such as Notes.
2. To bring up the text popover, tap the insertion point and then select Text from Camera. This text has been replaced in iOS 15 by an icon for Live Text.
3. Point your camera at text. The camera will place the text in the field automatically as soon as it detects it. However, you can continue moving the camera until you see the text that you are interested in.
4. You can also tap the Live Text button at the bottom right to view which parts of your text are being captured. Then you can refine your selection to capture only what you want.
5. Tap Insert to place the text.
