The Samsung Galaxy A02s was the most affordable phone in 2021. Now, the Galaxy A03s is available, it features a newer chipset and a larger screen.

The A03s is priced at £139 in the UK, just like the Galaxy A02s. However, it doesn’t seem to be as competitive as rivals from Realme or Xiaomi in terms of price/performance, so brand loyalty or awareness could be the key factor in the A03’s success.

The Galaxy A02s jumped ahead of the flagship Galaxy S21 and, with such basic specs, a mid-year update feels more justified at the lower end of the market.
The A03s were announced on September 1st and will be available in retail stores across the world, including the UK, starting September 24th.

You won’t get much for the price in terms of cutting-edge technology. So, the A03s doesn’t have NFC, but it does offer a large display, a long battery life, and a flexible camera setup at a reasonable price.
One of the significant upgrades is the addition of a side-mounted fingerprint scanner (the A02s only offered PIN, Pattern, or Password unlocking). A new MediaTek Helio G35 chipset was added to the phone, which should provide superior power efficiency compared with the Snapdragon 450 SoC. Additionally, it will offer a better user experience in Samsung’s One UI 3.1 Core. This is Android 11, while the A02s were running on Android 10.
