Samsung is expected to work on the Galaxy S21 FE. It is scheduled to be released in the summer. It will be cheaper than the Galaxy S20 FE, but it will offer many of the same features.

Based on speculation, we’ve already compared how the Galaxy S21 FE will differ from the Galaxy S20 FE in a separate feature. But, here, we are focusing our attention on how the Galaxy S21 FE might stack up against both the Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21+.

Design

  • S21 FE: 155.7×74.5×7.9mm
  • S21: 151.7 x 71.2x 7.9mm, 172g
  • S21+: 161.5×75.6×7.8mm, 202g

According to leaked renders, Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will have a similar design as the Galaxy S21+ and S21+. It is expected to be about the same size as the Galaxy S21+ and S21+ and will have a plastic back like the S21+ and S21+.

The Galaxy S21 FE’s rear camera housing will have the same colour as its chassis. However, the Galaxy S21+ and S21+ have different colours camera housings – except in black models.

It is expected that the S21 FE will have a flat-screen and a centralised punch-hole camera, similar to the S21+ and S21+. It is also likely to be IP68 dust and water-resistant.

Display

  • S21 FE: 6.4-inch Full HD+, 120Hz
  • S21: 6.2-inch Full HD+, 48-120Hz
  • S21+: 6.7-inch Full HD+, 48-120Hz

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will be available with a 6.4-inch screen with Full HD+ resolution and a SuperAMOLED panel.

If rumours are true, the Galaxy S21’s 6.2-inch screen is larger than the Galaxy S21+’s 6.7-inch display. This would mean that the S21 FE will be in the middle of both devices.

The S21 and S21+ both have Full HD+ resolutions at 2400×1080 pixels and Super AMOLED panels. Both devices have a variable refresh rate of 48-120Hz. Although it isn’t yet known if the S21FE will offer this feature, it is likely to.

120Hz refresh rate is recommended, even though it may not be variable.

Hardware and specifications

  • S21 FE: Qualcomm SD888/Exynos 2100, 6GB/8GB RAM, 128/256GB, 4370mAh
  • S21: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8888 or Exynos 2110, 8GB, 128/256GB and 4000mAh
  • S21+: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8888 or Exynos 2110, 8GB or 128/256GB respectively, 4800mAh

According to rumours, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor is going to run the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. It is identical to the Galaxy S21+ and S21+.

The S21 FE is expected to come with 128GB and 256GB storage options. However, it’s not clear if microSD support will be available. Both the Galaxy S21+ and S21+ have the same storage options but no microSD support.

The S21 FE’s battery capacity is 4370mAh. 6GB and 8GB RAM were also mentioned. Both the Galaxy S21+ and S21+ have 8GB RAM, while the S21+ comes with a 4000mAh battery and the S21+ has 4800mAh.

Cameras

  • S21 FE: Triple rear (32MP+ 12MP+ 8MP), 12MP front camera
  • S21: Triple rear (12MP +12MP +64MP), 10MP front camera
  • S21+: Triple rear (12MP +12MP +64MP), 10MP front camera

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will likely have a triple rear camera. Reports claim that the device has a 32-megapixel, 12-megapixel, and 8-megapixel sensor. However, it is not clear why these sensors are being used. We expect main, ultra-wide and telephoto cameras.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S21+ and S21+ come with a triple rearview.

A camera made up of a 12-megapixel main camera with 1.8um pixels, f/1.8 aperture, optical stabilisation (OIS), and a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor with 1.42um and f/2.2. A 64-megapixel telephoto sensor has 0.8um, 2.0, and OIS.

Both the S21+ and S21+ have a 10-megapixel front camera, both 1.22um and f/2.2. According to some reports, the S21 FE will have a 12-megapixel front-facing camera.

Price

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is likely to be less expensive than the Galaxy S21, and thus the S21+. For the Galaxy S20 FE, the price is £599 in the UK and $699 in America for the 5G model. We expect the same for the S21 FE.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 is priced at £769, while the S21+ will be £949.

Conclusion

According to rumours, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE may be another great phone like the S20 FE. It will hit the sweet spot between features and price.

It will likely have a slightly lower quality camera system than the S21+ and S21+. Additionally, it may not offer variable refresh rates.

The Galaxy S21 will be more affordable than this one, but it has many of the same features as the Galaxy S21. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.
