Apple surprises us again with its next generation of mobile phones. Apple announced the iPhone 13 range, the 15th generation of iPhones from Silicon Valley. The Apple event in California on September 14th featured Apple Watches and iPads.
We dive into all the fantastic pieces of palm candy that were revealed at the event. This includes the updated tech set up to grace the new devices.
Apple iPhone 13 range
The new high-spec smartphone range that everyone loves is looking great. Apple has announced four new phones. We’ll be receiving the iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 13 Pro Max based on price and performance. Let’s take a look at their specifications, how they will look, when they will be released, and how much.
When will the iPhone 13 range become available?
There won’t be long wait! All four iPhone 13 handsets are due to be released Friday, September 24th, 2021.
What specs are there for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini? What is the difference between iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini?
The iPhone 13 Mini and the mid-range iPhone 13 phones continue last year’s outstanding line-up. The iPhone 12 range features improvements in specs, including a 12MP dual-lens rear camera that can capture wide and ultra-wide images, 4K HDR video and a more powerful 5G.
Apple’s A15 chip, the latest generation of next-generation technology, is also present. It has six CPU cores and four GPU cores.
Both models will be IP68 dust- and water-resistant. They also come with Super Retina XDR displays, which are 28% brighter than the 12 range. The 128GB,256GB, and 512GB models will also be available – almost double the number last year – and will run iOS 15. You can expect to get 17 hours of video playback on the Mini and 19 on the iPhone 13 battery.
What will the iPhone 13 or Mini look like?
The notch will be slightly smaller at the top, and the ceramic shield glass-aluminium bodies will be almost identical to those found on the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Plus.
Apple will also offer five amazing colour options, including midnight (black), pink, blue and starlight (which are all silvery colours). All of these colours will work with MagSafe magnetic charging. The iPhone 13 will have a screen size of 6.1 inches, while the Mini will have 5.4 inches.
What specs are there for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max?
The upcoming 13 range of premium smartphones really push the limits. Let’s first look at the similarities of the Mini 13 and Mini 13. Along with the 5G boost, the A15 chip and the 12MP front-facing cam are the same. All models will be running Apple’s new operating software iOS 15, with IP86 protection and MagSafe charging.
These are the differences that make things really interesting. The Pro Max’s OLED screen measures 6.1 inches and the Pro Max 6.7 inches. ProMotion technology changes the refresh rate of each display from 10Hz to 120Hz. This technology allows for fluid image movement, and the phone can save energy by decreasing its refresh rate when it is not. This is a neat bit of tech that has only been available on the iPad Pro to date.
There are also cameras. Pro models include a 12MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and up to 15x digital zoom. This gives photographers serious power. Ultrawide and wide cameras have higher f numbers. We won’t bore your eyes with all the details. However, they allow in more light which is great for night shots and can provide more background blur that is prized in portraits.
The Pro model also comes with a LiDAR scanner, which was on the 12 Pro models, but is now a Pro exclusive. This allows you to create 3D models of objects or surroundings. The batteries are also better with 22 hours and 28 hours respectively for the 13 Pro Max and 13 Pro Max.
There are also the 128GB, 2GB and 256GB models. The 1TB model is perfect for those who want to have fun with 4K video. The colours are also slightly different: graphite, gold, silver and sierra (a sleek, silvery) blue.
Apple Watch Series 7: Bigger, better and with more premium features
The Apple Watch 7 follows the release of the iPhone 7.
Apple’s latest smartwatch has a slightly different design. It features a larger Retina display with smaller bezels, but retains the same overall shape and size as the Watch 6. The screen can blend with the strap and case, allowing it to be more seamless. This makes it look really sleek and easy to tap and read.
Durability has been increased with an IP6X rating, WR50 water resistance rating, and improved crack resistance. This allows you to check your messages even while swimming. The battery life is identical to the 6 at 18 hours. However, the USB-C connector allows for 33% faster charging. Design-wise, you have the option to choose from green, blue, red, starlight, midnight, and other colours.
