What is the cost of cancelling a mobile contract? Are there early termination fees? Is it possible to keep your number? Here are the facts.

A mobile phone contract can be for 12 or 24 months. Before you sign the contract, make sure to review your network provider’s cancellation policies.

We’ve made sure that you understand all aspects of cancelling your phone contract. This includes when and how to cancel a monthly or pay-per-month contract.

Cancelling your mobile contract can be costly.

How can I cancel my phone contract before it expires?

If you cancel your contract before the due date, you will likely be charged a substantial cancellation fee.

What will it cost to cancel my contract early?

You will usually be charged the remaining amount of your contract in a lump sum. This can be expensive, especially if your network provider is new to you.

If you are one month into your 24-month contract and pay PS25 per monthly, then you will need to pay PS575 in order to end the contract.

Is it possible to cancel my contract without incurring any fees?

There are only specific ways you can end your contract before it expires.

Cooling-off period. Some network providers offer a 14-day cooling-off period at your contract’s beginning. You’ll be able to test your network provider during this time. You can cancel your contract at any time without penalty.

Pay as You Go. Customers who pay as they go are not tied to a contract and can leave their network provider with no early termination fees. Your provider will likely keep your credit if you move, but you should use your current credit first.

Can I cancel a mobile contract if I receive bad service?

It depends. Your network provider is not required to terminate a contract for bad service. However, this doesn’t mean that your network provider can’t do anything for you.

It is a good idea to contact your network provider. Although it is possible to switch to a lower tariff, there are no guarantees.
