Samsung Could Make a 50MP Sensor For The Camera System On The Google Pixel 6
The Google Camera app’s teardown has suggested that the Pixel 6 will have a 50-megapixel Samsung sensor.
The Google Camera app was also upgraded to version 8.3.252. This revealed potentially significant details about the camera system in the upcoming smartphone.
If the rumours are correct, it will represent a massive leap in pixels and sensor sizes from the Sony IMX363 featured on the Pixel 5.
The Samsung sensor is three times bigger, measuring in at 12.21mm. Furthermore, the 50MP density far exceeds the combination of 12.2MP and 16.MP from last year’s rear camera.
The Samsung sensor was only used so far on devices from Vivo and Tecno. Google’s AI-powered image processing far exceeds what these companies have demonstrated to be capable. It’s difficult to estimate how much this would mean for the Pixel range.
However, a combination of Google’s camera prowess and more powerful sensor hardware would seem to be deadly.
We know that the Samsung camera sensor is not the only thing Google may borrow from the Korean tech giant to make its next flagship. Rumours last week suggested that Google Tensor was a Samsung Exynos variant.
