OnePlus Nord 2 vs Nord – What Is The Difference?

OnePlus has announced the Nord 2 as the successor of the OnePlus Nord. The affordable, mid-range smartphone was unveiled at the OnePlus’ Nord Part Deux event on 22 July 2021.

Design

  • Nord 2: 158.9×73.2×8.3mm, 189g. Glass and plastic

The OnePlus Nord 2 is a slightly modified version of the original Nord. It takes cues from OnePlus 9 series. It features a rectangular camera housing at the rear with two large lenses and one smaller lens. It has a glass back with a plastic frame that is similar to the OnePlus 9.

The OnePlus Nord 2’s front features a punch-hole camera at the top left corner and an under-display fingerprint scanner. The Nord 2 is just 158.9×73.2×8.3mm. This is nearly identical to the original Nord.

In contrast, the original Nord has a rectangular camera housing three lenses. The display’s top left corner has a dual punch hole camera and an under-display fingerprint sensor.

The OnePlus Nord and OnePlus Nord 2 have no IP rating, but both devices have the OnePlus alert slider.

The OnePlus Nord 2 features a 6.43 inch display with Full HD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. It has a resolution of 410ppi. This panel is AMOLED and has a 20/9 aspect ratio. It also comes with HDR10+ certification and a 90Hz refresh rate.

Nord’s original display measures 6.44 inches and has a Full HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080) with a pixel density 411ppi. It has a 20/9 aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh speed.

Both the Nord 2 and Nord 2 have flat displays.

Hardware and specifications

The MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI processor is included in the OnePlus Nord 2. It’s said to be as fast as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chip. You can have up to 12GB RAM, with 6GB or 8GB options and up to 228GB storage with a choice of 128GB.

The OnePlus Nord 2 has a 4500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging, just like the flagship OnePlus 9.

The original OnePlus Nord runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor. It supports up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage.

It supports fast charging and has a 4115mAh capacity battery. The original Nord and the Nord 2 do not offer wireless Charging.

Cameras

  • Nord 2: Triple rear (50MP OS+8MP+2MP), 32MP
  • Nord: Quad rear (48MP+8MP+5MP+2MP), double front (32MP+8MP).

The OnePlus Nord 2 features a triple rear camera. It has a 50-megapixel primary camera, optical image stabilisation, and an f/1.88 aperture. An 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera has an f/2.25 aperture, and a 2-megapixel mono-lens camera has an f/2.5 aperture.

The Nord 2’s front camera has a 32-megapixel sensor and an f/2.45 aperture.

The OnePlus Nord features a quad rear camera consisting of a main sensor (48-megapixels), an ultra-wide sensor (8.5 mm), a macro sensor (2.5 mm) and a depth sensor (2.5 mm). The main sensor has a 48-megapixel aperture and an ultra-wide aperture of F/1.75. The 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor has an aperture at f/2.25 with a field view of 119-degrees and the depth sensor is 5-megapixels and an aperture at f/2.4. The marco sensor is 2-megapixels and an aperture at f/2.4. OIS and EIS are available on the main sensor.

The Nord’s front camera features a dual front camera consisting of a 32-megapixel main sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor.

The OnePlus Nord 2 has a new design, which is closer to the company’s flagship offering. It also offers a slightly larger battery and faster charging.

The Nord 2 has a larger rear and front camera lens than the Nord 2, but this does not automatically mean better results. It also has a slower processor. However, the Nord 2 and Nord 2 have the same display, RAM and storage.

Although the Nord 2’s initial price is slightly higher than the Nord 1, it still offers a few worthwhile features such as faster charging.
