More than just a number
It is a big decision, choosing a new phone, especially since most people keep them for at least two years. Comparing phones is a great way to determine which phone is best suited for your needs. Here are the critical differences between Samsung’s Galaxy A51 and the Galaxy A52 5G.
The Galaxy A51 is a popular mid-range Samsung phone. It borrows many of the best features from the premium S-series. The official successor to the Galaxy A51 is the A52 5G, which brings more to the table than just the addition of 5G. Let’s take a look at the differences.
Camera
The camera quality is one of the main differences between the two phones. The Samsung Galaxy A51 boasts a quad rear camera setup, with the main one capturing in 48MP. A similar setup is available on the A52 model, with a 64MP primary cam, proving to be an excellent option if you love taking high-quality pictures.
Processor
The A51 runs on the Samsung Exynos 9 Octa, a fast, mid-range ARM that clocks up to 2.2 GHz. The A52 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G, which can go up to 2.3GHz. While the Samsung Exynos 9 Octa is focused on efficiency and speed, the A52’s Snapdragon processor promises 27% more performance and 40% less power consumption.
Battery
The A51 model has a 4,000mAh battery offering 15W fast charging, while the A52 model has a larger 4,500mAh battery producing a 25W intake. A minor difference, but it could be the deciding factor between the models.
Features
Both devices have proximity sensors and ambient light sensors, but the A52 is more versatile in its capabilities. The scratch-resistant glass on this model is an excellent feature for those more likely to drop their phone or for parents looking for durable devices for children.
The Samsung A52 also has a 120Hz refresh speed for its screen. This is twice the A51’s 60Hz refresh rates. This means that scrolling through apps is exceptionally smooth. The A52 has a water-resistance of 1m for 30 minutes.
The big difference is that the A52 can use 5G. This may not matter to you, but it’s a game-changer if you have 5G coverage in your area.
Weight
There isn’t much difference in weight between the two devices, with the Galaxy A51 weighing in at 187g and the A52 just 2g more at 189g. The thicknesses of both devices are very similar. A51 has 8.7mm thickness, while A52 has 8.4mm.
Size of the display
Both phones have the exact same display size – 6.5 inches and 1080×2400 pixels screen resolution.
5G Storage
Both devices’ 128GB storage capacity is impressive, but the Samsung Galaxy A52 offers an additional 256GB version. This is an important distinction to make if you frequently run out of storage or use your phone to store large files. With cloud storage becoming more affordable and accessible, 128GB should suffice for most people.
Both phones have very similar specifications and features. The A52 has a better camera, battery and processor, and is 5G-ready, but overall the A51 is identical in quality, and it’s one of our most popular phones.
