Apple has confirmed that they will host an event today (September 14th at 6pm BST)

It is expected that the iPhone 13 will launch at this event. The event announcement did not mention any specific devices, but it is widely thought to include the new iPhone and possibly a new Apple Watch.

An augmented reality component features in the event invite. It allows users to look through an Apple-shaped portal to see a presumed California landscape.

Handset Rumours

As is to be expected, iPhone releases will include a variety of handset options. With rumours indicating that this year’s iPhone release will not be an exception and there will once again be four variants of the handsets. Names of the handsets are iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The rumoured names of the new series of iPhone.

Pre-Order Rumours and Prices

The price of the new iPhone, as with everything Apple, remains secret.

The iPhone 13 could have similar specs to the iPhone 12. Therefore, they anticipate it will be a similar price. Pre-orders will open for the iPhone 13 within a few days of the launch event so that it could be Thursday or Friday.

TechRadar believes that the new iPhone may be priced at around £799, based on previous launches and Apple’s consistency with pricing points lately – similar to the iPhone 12. There may be an iPhone 13 Mini Pro, Pro, and Pro Max if past releases are any indication. These are expected to retail for £699, £999 and £1099 respectively.

Design Rumours

The iPhone 12 design has changed little. There could be a design change to the rear camera with a possible diagonal design of the lenses. That the camera design change could result in a slightly larger camera bump.

Another design suggestion that has been strongly supported is a smaller notch due to the possibility of a smaller Face ID sensor. The Pro and the Pro Max situation is very similar, so no significant design changes are anticipated. Rumours surround colour options and stainless steel that is less fingerprint-prone.

We may see new colours with the iPhone 13. We might see orange, pink, and other colours similar to the 12.

Display Rumours

Screen sizes and resolutions are expected to remain the same as the iPhone 12. The Pro and Pro Max versions may see refresh rates of 120Hz. They also predict each handset to have an always-on display.

This ‘always-on display could be a way to always see the time and battery life, or even notifications.

Camera Rumours

Apple will likely tweak the camera in the new handsets. Rumours range from an upgraded ultra-wide shooter for the pro handsets to an upgraded telephoto lens. A new portrait mode and video recording capabilities are also possible.

Spec Rumours

Reports that the handsets will run on the A15 chipset. There are also rumours that a 1TB iPhone could be produced in 2021. This would be the largest iPhone ever produced.

Battery Rumours

Many rumours have circulated about the expected battery for the new iPhone. Rumours suggest that the new iPhone’s battery will be larger than previous models, offering a longer battery life. Apple lovers will be delighted to hear this.

The mini handset could have an additional 1h battery life. The rumoured iPhone 13 or Pro could see a 10% increase in battery capacity. Pro Max will likely see an 18-20% increase in power.

Satellite Communication Rumours

There are rumours that the iPhone would get satellite communication, which would mark the first time an iPhone has received this service. This feature will allow users to send and receive messages and make calls without a 4G or 5G connection. This feature is revolutionary for emergency calls, such as if you are stranded without service.
